Katie McCain

Katie McCain is an Upper School English Teacher who has been teaching since 2015. Katie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Literatures in English, as well as Classics, from Connecticut College in 2013, a Master’s Degree in English from Georgetown University in 2015, and a Ph.D. in English from The Ohio State University in 2020 with a concentration in Television and Media Studies. Katie specializes in Fan Studies and wrote her dissertation on modern fanfiction: Today Your Barista Is: Genre Characteristics in the Coffee Shop Alternate Universe. Recently she has published work in The Food Network Recipe: Essays on Cooking, Celebrity, and Competition; Children and Childhood in the Works of Stephen King; and Prequels, Coquels, and Sequels in Contemporary Anglophone Fiction. She loves bringing pop culture into the classroom and connecting with students’ individual interests. Katie began working at DVFriends in 2022.
