A Quaker School for Students Who Learn Differently
DVFriends is a national leader in educating bright students (grades 1-12) with language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia and other associated conditions, including ADHD and executive function challenges.

Our purposeful Quaker culture recognizes and honors the inherent worth of all people while nurturing a community that values diversity and strives for equity and inclusivity. This philosophy underlies all we do to help students discover and grow their strengths and celebrate their differences. DVFriends teachers apply deep expertise and innovation to help students learn. Faculty members develop authentic partnerships with students and families to build relationships that foster accountability and trust -- which ultimately yield achievement. Our Orton-Gillingham-based approach incorporates multisensory teaching techniques that empower students to develop effective skills for their unique learning styles.
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice
At DVFriends, we are a community of individuals with differences. These differences, learning and otherwise, shape our perspectives and lived experiences in the world. We recognize and honor those differences and strive to find points of connection.

For the adults in the DVFriends community, DEIJ also means that we each bring unique talents and perspectives to our work and the diversity of voices leads us to make wiser decisions and strengthens our community. We seek to understand what feeling affirmed, supported, and a sense of belonging means for our students, staff, and faculty. We are committed to doing the work to recognize our growth areas.
DVFriends uses the Applied application process
DVFriends has partnered with Applied to ensure an application process that is equitable and free of implicit bias. You’ll answer some questions that are related to your day-to-day job. Your answers will go through our sifting process: all answers will be anonymized, randomized, and then reviewed by a panel of reviewers. Candidates who make it to the next phase are invited to campus for in-person interviews.
